Mamod/Meccano Steam Engine MEC1 Restoration
I have recently restored a mamod meccano steam engine for a friend of my dads. I restored it from a rusting wreck to an as new engine.
The restoration consisted of a base strip down and re-spray, and a repaint of the flywheel, anew burner was bought, and firebox partly re-painted (still keeping decal).

I very much enjoyed doing this, so if any of you have an engine you want restoring to a very high standard, send me an e-mail and we can talk about it or you could send it to me and I can send it back when finished. On the old Mamod forums there was a man who had problems with his TE1a. He sent it to me, not knowing I was 13 at the time. I did tell him I was 13, and decided to let me have a go at it. After a few steamings, I realised that the forwards/reverse lever wasn't matching up to the whole on the engine frame. I told him the problem, and he bought a new reverse lever and got it delivered to me. I fitted it in a couple of minutes, and steamed it a couple of times to make sure the work was finished. I sent it back to him and he was amazed that a 13yr old could sort out the porblem but he couldn't. :D
