1. remove the safety valve and the plug in the back
2. place the engine on a level surface
3. fill the engine through the safety-valve hole until water flows out of the back from the plug hole
4. put the plug and valve hand-tight into position
5. fill the meths burner with meths until a thin layer of meths lies above the grate/ add 2 fuel tablets
6. light the fuel tray, hook the burner tray an scuttle onto the back of the engine
7. wait 5 minutes for the engine to gain pressure
8. push the lever on the top of the cylinder forwards and spin the flywheel
Newer Mamods (from 1978 onwards) tablet fired with sight glass:-
1. remove the safety valve
2. fill engine to part of sight glass that goes a sort of like two points pointing towards each other
3. put safety valve back into place
4. light 2 fuel tablets in the tray
5. wait 5 minutes for the engine to reach pressure
6. push the lever on the top of the cylinder forwards and spin the flywheel
7. if the water dissapears beneath the sight glass, blow the flame out straight away or you will seriously damage your engine!
~~NOTE~~
It is always best to use boiling water to fill the boiler up with, but this will hurt if you spill it on you! It makes the engine run longer. I take no responsibility if you get burned by flames, or scold yourself with boiling water. :P
